Hi Everyone,
We got back Sunday from our scheduled Rally and Annual Meeting. For those who could not make it to the Rally yall missed a good one. The weather was perfect. We had lunch at Frans on Friday and a flash grill out on Friday evening, hamburgers, hotdogs, brats, chip and dip and whatever else anyone wanted to bring. Sometimes the spur of the moment meals turn out to be the best meals. Saturday evening the club furnished Grady’s Chicken and everyone brought a side. Plenty of food, good company and conversation and deserts.
Covered a lot of business after the meal. Made a few adjustments to the Rally Schedule for 2018, and it was voted on and approved. We have officially been notified that on requested name change has been approved and we are now “Coastal Georgia Airstream Club #37”. We need to make arrangements to update our flags and other club documents. Barry and I have been working on getting a copy of the club constitution and bi-laws to update them. That has been completed and just have to send it in.
We also had our Officer Installation at the annual meeting the results are as follows
President – Barry Fuller
Vice President – Ray Lewis
Secretary/Treasurer – Casey Lewis
Trustee – Walt Stevenson
Sunshine Person – Martha Stevenson
Membership Chairperson – TBA
Ray
Barry went with the PA Keystone Unit on a mini caravan to Canada in August. Read about it here:

Well if you did not make it to the July Rally you missed a good one. We had a great time. A total of four units were present, Ray Lewis, Barry Fuller, Casey Lewis and his two girls, and Chris and Lisa Sanchez and their three children. the weather was hot but no bugs and had some rain on friday evening. They have 5 sites with full hook-ups and Chris and Lisa took advantage of that offer. the kids did some fishing and had a blast at the splash park. They also had golf, bike rentals, boat rentals, putt putt golf, paddle boat rentals, kayak and canoe rentals, so there was plenty of things to do if you chose to do so. We had our Saturday evening supper, hamburgers and hotdogs and all the sides.
Our next rally is scheduled for October 5,6,7,8 at the Coastal Georgia RV camp grounds. So make your reservations and make sure you tell them you are with the Coastal Georgia Airstream Club. This meeting will be our Annual Meeting and Officer Installation. If you want to try you hand at being an active officer in the club please throw your name in the pot. Currently I am the President (my second year) Barry Fuller is the Vise President (his second year) and Casey is the Secretary/Treasurer (his second year). Ray Merchant is the Membership Chair and Trustee )his second year), and Walt Stevenson Trustee and Sunshine Chair (his second year). Plus Lamont and Linda our SOB President.
Since this is the Annual Meeting and the Installation of Officers, the club will furnish Grandys Chicken and everyone bring a side and drink. As of this writing we have no prospective new candidates to fill any of the positions mentioned above. So if you wish to be President, Vise President, and/or Secretary/Treasurer, Trustee or Membership Chair or Sunshine Chair please let me know. I can not hardly see anyone but Walt being our Sunshine Chair. He is always so happy and bubbly. He has some stories to tell.
We still have our December Rally (December 7,8,9,10) to go and it will be at Skidaway Island State Park. The theme will be homemade chili and bring a side. For reservations call 1-800-864-7275 or make them electronically. (sites are $26 to $45 and some with full hook-ups).
Working on next years Rally schedule. Will e-mail it out once finalized.
P.S. Several of the Officers have agreed to run again for another year if voted in by the club.
Thank You
Ray Lewis, President

At the last luncheon meeting at Brunswick, we discussed updating our unit name to include the word “Airstream”. This was a suggestion from Region 3 to make the sites more search friendly to the public. Well, that has been put on hold because the lawyers at Thor (the parent of Airstream) is reviewing their policies of free use of the “Airstream” name. It has now also been recommended that the state name be the first on the unit name to enhance membership. This will be up for discussion.

There were 4 members present at the Region 3 rally at Hiawassee. The park is very scenic, but had some challenging spots. Ray Lewis had to move because his 30 footer was too long to handle the grade change and was hitting bottom. There was a lot of entertainment and food. As president, Ray represented our unit in the opening flag ceremony.

As a member, you are invited to join any unit’s rally. I (Barry) attended a rally sponsored by the Southeast Campers Unit held at Veterans State Park in Cordele, Ga. Kathy Narowski from SE Campers was the host and we had nice water front lots. Even had a bagpipe concert!

Hi Everyone
Those of you that missed the last rally at Bull Creek really missed out on a good one. I believe that rally was one of our better rallies. Thursday night we ate at the restaurant on the grounds. It was a really good meal and prices were reasonable. We had breakfast at the restaurant on Friday morning. During the day Friday several folks tried their hand at fishing. A couple of mud fish were caught. We had a visitor hanging around, It was about a 3 foot alligator. It did not bother anything just laid on the stump sunning. Friday night we had a low country boil. Everybody ate until their gut was stuffed then waddled on back to their Airstream. We had some rain but it did not hinder our activities. Saturday night we had steak night with everyone bringing a side dish. There was plenty of food and great company and good conversation. We had an at large visitor form the Tampa area join us on the rally. His name was Paul Emick #9008. He said he had a great time and may join us again. We enjoyed Paul’s company during the rally.
We have several activities coming up. First, will be the Region 3 Rally in Hiawassee Ga. The rally is scheduled for April 26 thru April 30, 2017. Many have already mention they will not be able to attend this rally but there are several who will. As of right now myself, Barry Fuller and Stu and Mary Soule will be attending.
Our next Coastal Ga. Airstream Club Rally will be at Blythe Island on May 4 thru May 7, 2017. Go ahead and make your reservations and be sure to tell them you are with the Airstream group. They said they would try and keep us together. Let me know once your reservations are made so I can have a good head count.
See Ya There
Ray Lewis, President

On Feb. 3rd, we had a joint rally with the South Carolina Coastal Unit 150 at Walterboro, SC. This was the first joint rally in recent history that anyone can recall. We took up a large part of the park and the food was great. Kathy Narowski, their president, led the ceremonies with the Superbowl theme. We hope that we can do another joint rally next year. Thank you Coastal South Carolina.

Like each year, we wrapped it up at Georgia GA RV Resort in Brunswick. There was a good turnout, I believe it was nine units. We ended with a meeting by the clubhouse fireplace with a spaghetti supper. The same officers will remain in place for another year. There was a discussion on next year’s rallies, with the first one being an invite from the South Carolina Coastal Unit for a joint rally at Green Acres in Walterboro, SC on Feb. 3rd. This is probably a first for this Unit. Before that will be the Winter luncheon on Jan. 14th.

On June 21st, President Ray Lewis and VP Barry Fuller caravanned to Lewisburg, WV for the International rally, a first for both of us. We made two stops enroute and then arrived three days early because of the registration and parking procedures. Over 700 units arrived eventually. We were put to ourselves on a hill, which we were not happy about until the floods started. We were high and dry and eventually others were parked with us. when the floods came to WV, we experienced electrical outages and a water boil mandate. But the show went on and we learned a lot and made new friends. Some of the other Southeast units entertained doing some joint rallies.
After the rally Ray caravanned with Barry to Northern WV to Barry’s place near Capon Bridge, WV. There we did the tourist and sight seeing thing. There is 30 amp power and all are invited to stop in on the river in WV.

We have had a busy hot Georgia Summer! Since the last update, we sponsored a rally at Hoboken, GA, Reed Bingham SP and Crooked River SP. At Twin Oaks in Hoboken, we had the complete camp to ourselves and plenty of Spaghetti for all and more. In June at Reed Bingham SP near Valdosta, there was a plethora of chicken in many ways. One night Barry and Fran hosted the group to the Pecan farm and had Bar B Qu from Smokin Pig. On the way home both Rays experienced tire blowouts. In August we met some new friends and had homemade ice cream. All of it was good. Later was a huge meal under the pavilion, with all the good stuff, especially the potato salad. We are looking forward to seeing everyone at Ft McAllister SP in October, especially the new members.
